Gene Gyure
W. Bro. Eugene Gyure, Jr., was honored as a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award by the Valley of Springfield and the Illinois Council of Deliberation of the Scottish Rite on June 3, 2005 in Moline, IL.  WB Gene Gyure has had a very active Masonic Career.

 

            WB Gyure was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in January of 1983.  He served as Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 1993 and as Secretary in 1994 and 1995.  Gene is a plural member of Springfield Lodge #4 where he currently serves as the Jr. Deacon.  He was also appointed as Grand Representative to Manitoba for the year of 1994.

 

            In the Valley of Springfield, Scottish Rite he served as the Thrice Potent Master in 2001and 2002.  He is the Director of the 13th degree (since 2000) and Assistant Director of the 14th degree (since 2002.)  He was awarded the Master Overseer in 2000 and is currently the Chairman of the Reunion Committee for the Valley of Springfield.  He is a former member of the Ansar Shrine Clown Unit.  He currently serves as the Ansar Representative to the Illinois Masonic Youth Foundation.  He has been a member of the Advisory Board of Springfield Assembly #18, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.  He has served as the Chairman of the Advisory Board in 2003 and 2005.

 

            He is married to Dianne, daughter of W Bro Richard H. Chesnut (Master in 1971.)  She is a Past Worthy Advisor of Springfield Assembly #18 and a Past Grand Representative to Rhode Island for the Grand Assembly of Illinois (Rainbow.)  They have a daughter, Amanda, age 18, who is the current Recorder/Treasurer of Springfield Assembly #18 (Rainbows.)  She is a Past Grand Representative to Florida, Texas and Brazil from the Grand Assembly of Illinois and is currently serving as Grand Religion of the Grand Assembly.

 

            In addition to his Masonic Career, he is quite active with his professional career.  He has been a locksmith and safe technician in the Springfield area since 1980.  In 1993, along with his wife Dianne and daughter Amanda formed the corporation that would become Starfleet Lock and Safe, Inc.

 

            His other memberships include: The Illinois Locksmith Association (current secretary and librarian, did a complete rewrite of the association’s by-laws in 2004), The National Locksmith Association, The National Locksmith Automobile Association, Safe and Vault Technicians of America, The National Safeman’s Organization, Allied Locksmiths for Illinois, and Associated Locksmiths of America (rated as a Certified Registered Locksmith, CRL.)
